A two-person travel agency running on paper. Here is what changed.

This portfolio starts here because this is where the real work started. I spent my university years inside my family's travel agency, where the records lived in Excel files, paper ledgers, and manual ticket tracking.

The problem was visible in day-to-day operations, not in a hypothetical spec.

The business needed a system that the small team could actually keep using.

The manual state, observed firsthand

Bookkeeping lived in spreadsheets and paper ledgers. Customer and B2B records were scattered. Ticket tracking was manual. There was no centralized backup, so the business had one fragile path for its records.

No single searchable source of truth.

No cloud backup for documents and records.

Manual coordination slowed the whole office down.

What I built, in order

The work happened in layers: first the accounting app, then cloud storage and backup, then customer and B2B records, then the company website, and finally process changes that made the whole system easier to trust.

What changed structurally

The team grew from two people to a small structured group with accounts, a manager, operations staff, and me on the technology side. The business now has a functioning digital record-keeping and backup system where previously there was none.

Corporate accounts and repeat travelers became easier to track.

What I learned

The biggest lesson was that internal software has to be boring in the best possible way: searchable, reliable, and easy to keep using without constant explanation.

Understand the business before writing the code.

Documentation is part of the engineering.

The best internal tool disappears into the workflow.

What comes next

The next step outward from the same instinct is transport records and hospitality booking: other paper-heavy systems in Nepal that can be made more useful without turning them into something unrecognizable.
